LaNeve Tabbed Player of the Week

The junior belted two home runs against Kentucky

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt student-athlete Troy LaNeve was named SEC Player of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday morning.

LaNeve finished last week batting .429 with a pair of multi-hit outings for the Commodores, while adding a team-high six RBI. He recorded at least one hit and a run scored in each of Vanderbilt’s wins on the week.

Three of LaNeve’s six hits went for extra-bases, as he slugged an impressive .929 over the four-game stretch.

LaNeve posted a perfect 3-for-3 outing in Thursday’s series opener with Kentucky, highlighted by a two-run homer in the ninth to win the game, marking the Commodores’ first walk-off win of the season.

The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native blasted a three-run shot on Friday evening to ice the game against the Wildcats and help Vanderbilt clinch the series win.

LaNeve earns his first career weekly conference honor, while becoming the Commodores’ third Player of the Week this season. Seven different Vanderbilt student-athletes have earned weekly conference honors, including Jack Bulger, Jayson Gonzalez, Dominic Keegan, Jack Leiter Kumar Rocker and Carter Young.
