Vandy posts ninth clean sheet of season

BATON ROUGE, La. – RV/20 Vanderbilt soccer tallied a scoreless draw at LSU on Thursday night, its second straight shutout. The Commodores have finished with nine clean sheets so far this year marking the third consecutive season Vandy has recorded nine shutouts.

The Dores close the road portion of the regular season schedule unbeaten for the first time under head coach Darren Ambrose.

Vanderbilt (8-2-6, 3-2-4) had 18 shots in the match, 12 of which came in the first half. Vandy dominated a seven-minute stretch in the opening frame putting up seven shots and keeping the Tigers shotless during that period. The Commodores finished with nine corner kicks, the second most in conference play this year.

Keeper Sara Wojdelko tallied her fourth straight start and posted three saves. The senior keeper picked up her seventh shutout of the season and 11th of her career. The shot-stopper is now tied in fifth with Lauren Whitt (1998-2002) all-time in program history in the shutout category.


LSU (7-7-3, 2-5-2) took 11 shots in the match, just three on target. Keeper Sophine Kevorkian registered nine saves on the night, the highest amount of stops in a game by a Tiger this season. The Tigers also tallied nine corner kicks, tied for the second most by a Vanderbilt opponent this year.

Vanderbilt returns to Music City in the regular season finale on Sunday afternoon, hosting Alabama. The match is set for 3 p.m. and will be shown on SEC Network+.
