June Stewart Invitational: Results from day 2

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lauren Mira, Ashleigh Antal, and Marie Casares will compete in the final round for an opportunity to win their flights tomorrow after defeating their opponents in the second round of singles at the June Stewart Invitational.

Each of the girls won in straight sets over an opponent from Memphis, with Mira beating Tiffany Welcher 6-1, 6-4; Casares defeating Alyssa Hibberd 6-1, 6-4; and Antal winning 6-0, 6-1 over Andrea Arques.

“It was a great day of matches,” said assistant coach Aleke Tsoubanos, noting that the majority of matches were close, with many players forcing three sets.

In doubles, Casares and Antal defeated their opponents to win their draw, beating Miami 8-3, and Memphis 8-4 in the final.

The teams will take the courts again Sunday morning at 9:30 for the final round of singles.
