Jeff Roberson named SEC Player of the Week

Feb. 19, 2018

Commodore senior forward Jeff Roberson has been named the SEC Player of the Week by the SEC office in Birmingham for his exploits last week in two Vanderbilt wins over Mississippi State and Florida. The 6’6 Houston native averaged 24 points, nine rebounds and two assists in the two victories.

Vanderbilt’s leading scorer and rebounder, Roberson added his eighth double-double of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds in the win over the Bulldogs, and then scored a game-high 26 points in the win over the Gators. For the week he shot 54.5 percent (12-of-22) from the field, 50 percent (5-of-10) from three and converted on 19-of-24 shots from the charity stripe.

The honor is the first for Roberson in his career and the first for a Commodore this season. Luke Kornet was Vanderbilt’s last Player of the Week on March 6, 2017.

Vanderbilt returns to the floor on Tuesday night in Baton Rouge when the Commodores take on LSU at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center (8 p.m. CT, SEC Network).
