Hoskins Named Burlsworth Walk-On Of The Week

Vanderbilt receiver scored in 20-13 win over Kentucky

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt wide receiver Richie Hoskins has been named the Burlsworth Trophy Walk-On of the Week.

Hoskins scored his first touchdown of the season on an 18-yard pass from Diego Pavia in Vandy’s 20-13 win at Kentucky Saturday. He now has four catches for 58 yards this year.

The Burlsworth Trophy, first presented in 2010, is given annually to the best player in FBS who began their career as a walk-on. It is named after Arkansas walk-on Brandon Burslworth, who eventually played his way to All-America status.

Hoskins began his collegiate career at Middlebury College in Vermont before joining the Commodores as a walk-on in 2022. He has since played his way into a role as one of Vandy’s most reliable receivers. Off the field, Hoskins is a leader in the team’s community service efforts and was the program’s 2024 nominee for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.

The Commodores return to action Saturday against Ball State. Kickoff at FirstBank Stadium is set for 6 p.m. and tickets remain available.
