KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The UT Invite concluded on Sunday as No. 18 Vanderbilt women’s tennis wrapped up the three-day event against Arizona State in doubles and No. 16 Tennessee in singles at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
Vandy’s No. 2 ranked All-American duo of graduate Célia-Belle Mohr and sophomore Sophia Webster returned to the court as a pair for the first time since their NCAA Doubles Championship finalist finish in November. The two made quick work of the Sun Devils’ Karsyn Evans and Lily Taylor, notching a 6-2 win at the top position. Sophomore Trinetra Vijayakumar and freshman Mia Yamakita produced a second victory for the black and gold with a 6-2 defeat of Ziata Bartanusz and Sarang Lim. At the No. 2 spot, freshman Erin Pearce and junior Valeria Ray fell behind early to Vivian Ovrootsky and Emilija Tverijonaite, with the score eventually moving to 5-2 in favor of Arizona State. Two serving games and a break point later, the Dores sat even with their Sun Devil counterparts at 5-5. After both teams fought to a 6-6 tiebreaker, it was all Vanderbilt in the final moments, opening a 6-2 lead before ultimately finishing off the set 7-6 (3).
Mohr and Pearce added two victories for the Commodores in singles against the Volunteers. Mohr fended off Vanesa Suarez at the top position 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 to stay unbeaten in singles throughout the weekend. It was yet another match with multiple aces for Mohr, who served for three against Suarez. Pearce also went to three sets with Francesca Mattioli at No. 4 singles, pulling away 6-1, 4-6, 7-5. The freshman finished 6-0 on the weekend across singles and doubles play. Four of the six singles matches on Sunday went to three sets.
The Dores look ahead to dual match play for the first time since May 2025. Vanderbilt is set for a home doubleheader against Western Kentucky at 11 a.m. and Belmont at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
