CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 19/19-ranked Vanderbilt women’s basketball team hits the road for its first true away contest of the 2025-26 season this Wednesday, as the Commodores travel to Austin Peay to battle the Governors. Tipoff from F&M Bank Arena is set for 6 p.m. CT and streams live on ESPN+.

Starting Five
>> Vanderbilt looks for its third-straight win to open the 2025-26 campaign this Wednesday at Austin Peay. The Commodores are coming off a 96-48 victory over Furman inside Memorial Gymnasium on Monday night. Graduate Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda registered a team-high 16 points, as a total of six Dores scored 10 points or more against the Paladins.

>> The Commodores are seeking their fourth-straight 3-0 start to a season. The last time the Dores opened four consecutive campaigns with three straight wins happened between the 2011-12 and 2014-15 seasons.

>> Vanderbilt has won seven straight regular-season games against non-conference foes coming into Wednesday. Vanderbilt has won each of its last four true road games dating back to the 2024-25 season. The last time the Dores had a true road game in non-conference play came on Dec. 19, 2024, at Dayton, where the Commodores picked up an 80-66 victory.

>> Vanderbilt and Austin Peay will be playing for the second-straight season, as the Commodores picked up a 93-37 victory over the Governors on Nov. 8, 2024, inside Memorial Gym. The Dores are 2-0 against APSU under head coach Shea Ralph.

>> Vanderbilt leads the all-time series over Austin Peay, 18-1. The Govs won the first matchup on Dec. 19, 1977, 81-61, in Clarksville, Tennessee. The Commodores have won 18-straight games vs. APSU since then. Thursday’s game marks the first time the two have played in Clarksville since the 2011-12 season, when Vandy scored an 83-51 victory on Nov. 30.

Game Coverage
Wednesday’s contest streams live on ESPN+ at 6 p.m. CT. Alex Gould and Ethan Schmidt will be on the call. Fans can listen to Jake Lyman locally on 94.9 The Fan and the Vanderbilt Commodores app outside of Nashville.

National Rankings
Vanderbilt came in at No. 19 in both the Associated Press top 25 and the USA Today/WBCA coaches poll. Vandy was featured in both major women’s basketball polls in the preseason for the first time since the 2012-13 campaign.

Non-Conference Domination
Vanderbilt has had its fair share of success against non-SEC teams under head coach Shea Ralph. The Commodores are 51-19 against non-conference foes in the Ralph era, while Vanderbilt is 33-3 inside Memorial Gym against non-league teams.

The Dores have won four-straight non-conference road games dating back to the 2024-25 season coming into Monday’s game at Austin Peay.

In-State, Non-Conference Game
The Commodores will take on a non-conference foe from the Volunteer State for the 13th time under head coach Shea Ralph. Vandy is 8-4 against non-SEC teams from Tennessee under Ralph. The Dores are 125-46 all-time against schools from the Volunteer State outside of the SEC.

An Elite Scorer
Vanderbilt sophomore Mikayla Blakes returns the fourth-highest scoring average in all of NCAA Division I, as last year’s USBWA Tamika Catchings National Freshman of the Year returns 23.3 points per game from a season ago. Blakes is also the top returning scorer among all returning SEC players this season.

Blakes has scored double-digit points in each of her first two contests, as her 21.0 points per game average ranks second in the SEC heading into Wednesday. The guard has registered 10-plus points in 34 of the 35 collegiate games she has played in.

Aubrey The Baller
Freshman Aubrey Galvan has made an immediate impact on Vanderbilt. The 5-6 point guard is the first NCAA Division I women’s basketball player since at least 1999-00 to register 7-plus assists and 7-plus rebounds in back-to-back games to begin her career.

Galvan dished out a career-high eight assists in Monday’s win over Furman. Her effort on Monday came fresh off a 7-assist effort in the season-opening win over California in Paris, France. Galvan is currently 11th in the nation in assists per game at 7.5, an average that also ranks third-best in the SEC.

Scouting the Governors
Austin Peay heads into Wednesday sporting a 1-0 overall record after defeating Sewanee, 115-46, on Nov. 3. The Govs will be playing in their first game in eight days when they welcome Vanderbilt into F&M Bank Arena.

A total of six APSU players registered double-digit points against Sewanee, as sophomore Anovia Sheals scored a team-high 23 points. Freshman Jim’Miyah Branton also tallied 20 points in the victory.

The Governors shot 55.8 percent from the floor in their lone game of 2025-25, while connecting on 30.8 percent from behind the arc. Defensively, Austin Peay allowed Sewanee to shoot 22.0 percent from the field.
