Hawks Named Finalist for National Award

Sawyer Hawks in running for Stopper of the Year

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt right-hander Sawyer Hawks is one of 13 finalists for the 2025 NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award, the NCBWA announced Wednesday.

The award is given to the nation’s top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball.

Hawks finished his senior campaign with a 1.60 ERA over 18 appearances. The righty registered eight saves, fourth-most among SEC pitchers. He totaled 59 strikeouts to 11 walks and held opposing hitters to a .167 average.

The Stopper of the Year recipient will be announced via a news conference on Friday, June 13, at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.
