Sept. 1, 2011
It’s the fourth annual Hall of Fame Weekend, a special accent to the excitement that surrounds Vanderbilt’s first home football game.
The festivities begin Friday evening in the Student Life Center where an appreciative audience in excess of 400 will gather for one of the finest evenings of the sports year.
The Hall of Fame Dinner includes the debut of the video Leaders and Champions, a moving tribute to the 2010-11 year that includes exclusive interviews from some Commodore coaches and fans.
The highlight of the evening are the acceptance speeches from the nine inductees, who include Senator Lamar Alexander (track and field), Tyler Griffin (soccer), Carl Hinkle (deceased, football), John Ingram (lifetime achievement), Peter Lamb (tennis), David Latimer (cross country), Scotti Madison (baseball), Will Perdue (basketball) and Sheri Sam (basketball).
Several members of the Class of 2011 will appear Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Legends Tent, a new addition to this year’s Vandyville. These members include Perdue, Madison and Sam and they are available to sign autographs, pose for photos and visit with fans. The Legends Tent is located in the middle of Vandyville near the origin of the pre-game radio broadcast.
New inductees will be presented to the football crowd during halftime.
