April 25, 2011

Nashville, Tenn, – Vanderbilt freshman Conrad Gregor has been named the SEC co-Freshman of the Week.

The Carmel, Ind. native enjoyed a great weekend at the plate going 8-for-13 (.615) with six RBI in the Commodores’ sweep over LSU. Gregor started all three games as the designated hitter over the weekend driving in at least one run in each game and setting career-bests on back-to-back days with three hits on Saturday and four hits on Sunday. His three-RBI game on Saturday also marked a career-best.

Gregor is the second VU freshman to earn the weekly honor from the league joining Tony Kemp, who was the co-Freshman of the Week for Week 7. Five Commodores have now received weekly honors from the SEC with pitchers Sonny Gray and Grayson Garvin and catcher Curt Casali joining the two freshmen.

Florida’s Karsten Whitson shares the honor with Gregor this week for his win against Alabama on Sunday. South Carolina’s Christian Walker is the Player of the Week and Kentucky’s Alex Meyer is the Pitcher of the Week.

The Commodores visit Western Kentucky tomorrow night with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
