The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association named junior pitcher Sonny Gray and junior third baseman Jason Esposito pre-season All-Americans.
Gray was tabbed as a second team member while Esposito was placed on the third team. The duo was two of the nine Southeastern Conference players to be recognized.
Last season Gray went 10-5 with a 3.48 ERA striking out 113 in 108.2 innings as the team’s Friday starter. Esposito was an offensive juggernaut for the Commodores hitting .359 with 12 homers, 64 RBI and 65 runs scored while stealing a team-best 31 bases.
Vanderbilt begins their 2011 campaign in San Diego to take on San Diego and San Diego State beginning February 18.
