Graham out with knee injury

Oct. 27, 2010

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt starting defensive back Jamie Graham will be out indefinitely due to a knee injury suffered Saturday in the Commodores’ loss to South Carolina.

Graham, a redshirt junior from Nashville, underwent surgery Wednesday morning to repair the injured right knee. The procedure was performed by a team physician from Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Graham started twice against Connecticut and Eastern Michigan earlier this season and saw action in the team’s last four games. He has also been the team’s primary nickelback for the last month. He has nine total tackles and a fumble recovery this season.

Graham’s junior campaign began slowly. He was forced to miss the team’s first three games this season after suffering a groin injury early in preseason camp.

Several young Commodore defensive backs, including freshman Steven Clarke, sophomores Eric Samuels and Trey Wilson, and freshman Andre Hal could see expanded roles during Graham’s absence.

The Commodores will travel to Fayetteville this Saturday to face the Arkansas Razorbacks and their All-America quarterback candidate Ryan Mallett. Kickoff is 6 p.m.
