Vanderbilt senior midfielder Kate Goldin has been named to the 2012 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, league officials announced Tuesday.
A double-major in biological sciences and Spanish, Goldin has volunteered as an English tutor to both adults and children in Nashville’s Spanish-speaking population through a program organized by Vanderbilt professor Elena Olazagasti-Segovia. The Herndon, Va., native also volunteered at Love at First Sight Adoption Center for a year before accepting a paid position there this fall.
On the soccer field, Goldin coached with the Nashville Youth Soccer Association this fall after previously working with the Harpeth Youth Soccer Association. For the Commodores, Goldin appeared in 15 games this season and made three starts.
The SEC promotes Community Service Teams for all 21 league-sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight student-athletes from each school who give back to their community in superior service efforts. The ninth annual women’s soccer Community Service Team follows:
