Georgia tops Vanderbilt, 6-1

ATHENS, Ga. – The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team dropped their first SEC match of the season, a 6-1 decision at Georgia Friday afternoon.

The Commodores dropped the doubles point for just the second time this season when Georgia picked up wins in the No. 1 and 2 matches. Lauren Mira and Keilly Ulery won their 10th doubles match of the season.

In singles play, Rachael Dillon fell to No. 90 Cameron Ellis, 6-1, 6-1, in the No. 5 match. The Bulldogs got out to a 3-0 lead when No. 48 Chelsea Gullickson topped Alex Leatu, 6-4, 6-1 on court one.

Chelsea Preeg put the Commodores on the board when she defeated No. 59 Nadja Gilchrist, 6-2, 7-6(3) in the No. 3 match. Preeg has now won nine matches in a row and stands 9-1 on the season.

Georgia won the final three matches en route to a 6-1 victory. Mira was unable to hold off killy Kimbell on court four, falling 6-2, 7-6(4). Ulery battled with Kate Fuller in the No. 6 match, but fell 7-5, 6-4. Jackie Wu played a tough three-set match against Maho Kowase, but lost the super tiebreaker set, 12-10.
