KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt struggled to overcome walks and timely hitting by Tennessee in a 17-1 loss in seven innings Saturday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
Tennessee totaled 17 runs on 11 hits and drew 10 walks. The Volunteers scored nine runs in the first, three more in the second and a run in the third to take control early.
Tennessee pushed four more runs across the plate in the fifth.
Vanderbilt’s lone run of the game came on a solo homer by RJ Schreck, hits 10th on the season, in the top of the first.
Vanderbilt (29-10, 13-4 SEC) looks to avoid a sweep at noon CT Sunday.
