Gainor, Cummins Named All-SBL

Vandy duo earns league honor

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt’s Mabel Cummins and Samantha Gainor have been named to the All-Southland Bowling League teams, the league announced Friday.

Cummins, a sophomore, was named to the first team while Gainor was named to the second team.

Originally from Illinois and now residing in Hermitage, Cummins was the Southland Bowling League Tournament MVP and Southland Bowling League Bowler of the Month in February. She was also the MVP of the Bulldog Classic and named to both the Lady Techsters Invite and Kat Klash Classic All-Tournament teams.

Gainor, from Chesterfield, Michigan, was named MVP of the Lady Techsters Invite and was named Vanderbilt Athletics’ Student-Athlete of the Month for March.

Commodores Finished Ranked Fourth

Vanderbilt ended the year ranked fourth in the final National Tenpin Coaches Association poll.

The Dores finished the season with a 42-28 record and lost to Nebraska in the NCAA Tournament in March. Nebraska would go on to win the national championship.

Arkansas State was ranked second in the poll while McKendree came in third.
