NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt’s Devin Futrell was drafted by the Boston Red Sox on Monday in the 10th round with the 297th overall pick of the 2024 MLB Draft.
Futrell has collected a 21-7 record with a 3.92 ERA over three seasons at Vanderbilt. The southpaw was a Freshman All-American in 2022 after going 9-3 with a 3.41 ERA. Futrell earned All-SEC honors as a sophomore in 2023 and was a preseason All-America in 2024.
Futrell’s 21 career victories ranked sixth among active SEC pitchers in 2024 and third among pitchers who spent their entire careers in the SEC. He has registered 180 strikeouts over 195.1 career innings.
All-time, Vanderbilt has more than 200 players selected in the MLB Draft including an NCAA-leading 151 since 2003.
Futrell is the sixth Commodore taken in the 2024 MLB Draft.
