NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt claimed the series over Missouri on Friday night with a 4-0 victory at Hawkins Field.
Bryce Cunningham allowed just three baserunners over seven scoreless innings en route to his fourth win on the season. The righty struck out a career-high 12 batters and gave up only one hit.
The Commodores struck first in the bottom of the second. With two outs, Matthew Polk singled and Davis Diaz blasted his second home run on the season to left-center to give Vandy a 2-0 lead.

Polk reached base on an error to start things off in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Jonathan Vastine hit his second double of the game to put runners on second and third. RJ Austin brought home Polk on an infield single and Camden Kozeal dropped a safety squeeze, scoring Vastine from third to put the Dores up 4-0.
The bottom of the order for Vandy totaled five hits and scored all four runs. Vastine and Diaz each went 2-for-3 while Polk went 1-for-4 and scored twice.
Miller Green took over on the mound in the eighth inning and tossed two scoreless frames without giving up a hit.
In the first two games against Missouri, the Commodore pitching staff hasn’t allowed an earned run and has registered 25 strikeouts while holding the Tigers to four hits. The shutout is Vanderbilt’s second this season.
Vanderbilt (22-6, 5-3 SEC) will go for the series sweep vs. Missouri (10-17, 1-7 SEC) on Saturday at 1 p.m. on SEC Network.
