Freshman of the Week

Mikela McCauley wins AAC honor

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Just two days after she scored the game-winning goal to lead Vanderbilt lacrosse to an overtime win, freshman Mikela McCauley was named the AAC Freshman of the Week by the conference office Monday.

A native of Katy, Texas, McCauley scored the game-winner with 30 seconds left in overtime to help propel Vanderbilt (3-1) to a 13-12 win over Lehigh on Saturday. In addition to two goals, she also added three draw controls.

McCauley helped lead Vanderbilt to a pair of wins last week as she added two goals and three draw controls in a decisive 21-11 victory over Kennesaw State Wednesday.

McCauley scored a hat trick in her first collegiate game and over the past three games, she has scored a total of five goals and successfully gained nine draw controls.

McCauley and the Commodores will host the next five games in Nashville at the Vanderbilt Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. All five games can be seen on VUCommodores.com.
