Former Dore Ditty Scores Big Doubles Victory

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Former Vanderbilt standout Julie Ditty and New York Buzz partner Victoriya Kutuzova defeated Venus Williams and former No. 1 doubles player Lisa Raymond of the Philadelphia Freedoms 5-1 in doubles Wednesday night at the CDPHP Tennis Complex. The win helped seal the 22-17 win for the Buzz, snapping their 6 game losing streak. The match will be replayed in its entirety on the Tennis Channel July 30.

Under the leadership of VU Head Coach Geoff Macdonald, Ditty became a 3-time All-American and still holds the Commodore career record for Most Singles Wins (114). Since joining the Pro Circuit, Ditty has racked up four singles titles and 15 Pro Circuit doubles titles. Her highest WTA doubles ranking was 99 in May 2006 and 229 in singles in 2005. Ditty was recently named USTA’s Circuit Player of the Week when she took home the fourth singles title of her career at the Houston Pro Tennis Classic.
