Fish Leads Commodores with No. 17 Ranking

9/6/2005

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its 2005 preseason ranking for singles and double play Tuesday and several Commodores found their way onto the list.

Junior Amanda Fish (Scituate, Mass.) was the highest ranked Commodore at No. 17. She was the sixth-highest ranked student-athlete from the Southeastern Conference (No. 1 Jennifer Magley, Florida; No. 4 Robin Stephenson, Alabama; No. 6 Shadisha Robinson, Georgia; No. 15 Kim Coventry, Kentucky; and No. 16 Natalie Frazier, Georgia).

Fish was joined in the Top-50 by sophomore Taka Bertrand (Great Falls, Va.), who came in at No. 41. Over the summer Fish and Bertrand teamed up to take second place in the doubles at the USTA Women’s Satellite Tour of Baltimore. Fish also took second place in the singles portion of the event. The two Commodores are also ranked No. 20 in the preseason doubles rankings.
