Dores split against Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — Vanderbilt split a pair of seven-inning exhibitions against Utah on Friday at The Ballpark at America First Square.

The Commodores won the second game 3-2 after falling 7-5 in the first game. 14 pitchers saw action for Vandy across the 14 innings. The Dores held the Utes to just two hits in Game 2. Both runs allowed in the second exhibition were unearned.

On offense, Vandy posted nine hits in Game 1 followed by six more in Game 2.

In Game 1, Mike Mancini doubled and hit a two-run homer and Logan Johnstone added a pair of doubles. Mack Whitcomb went 2-for-2 and scored twice.

In the second game, Colin Barczi knocked a pair of RBI doubles.

Vanderbilt returns to Nashville, hosting Murray State next Friday for the David Williams Fall Classic at Hawkins Field.
