For the second time in a week juniors Jason Esposito and Sonny Gray have been recognized on a national level.
Esposito and Gray were named to the second team of Louisville Slugger’s pre-season All-American team. Earlier in the week Gray was a second team selection and Esposito a third team pick by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
The Commodores return 21 lettermen from last year’s team that ended the season one win away from the school’s first-ever trip to the College World Series. The Dores open the season in San Diego taking on the University of San Diego and Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn’s San Diego State team beginning February 18. Hawkins Field hosts its first game of the 2011 campaign on February 23 when cross-town rival Belmont pays a visit.

The baseball team will host its annual banquet on February 12 at 7 p.m. inside the Student Life Center.
