NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Alan Espinal is this week’s SEC Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Espinal had eight hits over the weekend to help the Commodores sweep No. 18 Auburn. His eight hits tied for the most in the SEC over the weekend with teammate Jayden Davis.
For the week, Espinal had 10 hits and walked five times for an OBP of .714. The senior catcher turned in a multi-hit performance in all four games including a four-hit game against Auburn on Saturday.
Espinal also homered Tuesday vs. Indiana, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored. He doubled and scored twice in Game 1 vs. Auburn on Friday before going 4-for-4 in Game 2 on Saturday.
A Commodore has earned SEC recognition in three consecutive weeks.
