NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Devin Futrell and Carter Holton have been invited to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team summer training camp.
Futrell paced Vanderbilt with eight wins in 15 starts as a sophomore in 2023. He recorded an 8-3 record with a 3.44 ERA and totaled 72 strikeouts over 83.2 innings. The southpaw earned second-team All-SEC honors and was named SEC Pitcher of the Week on April 3 after holding Georgia scoreless over eight innings of work while striking out seven and allowing just three hits. On the season, Futrell recorded four quality starts.
Holton made 11 starts for the Commodores this season and went 4-1 with a 4.11 ERA. The lefty was a unanimous Freshman All-America selection in 2022 and was a member of the USA Baseball CNT, making two appearances for the squad last summer. The sophomore turned in four quality starts this season including a season-high 10 strikeouts during a seven-inning outing against Georgia on March 31.
The 2023 USA Baseball CNT schedule features the annual Stars vs. Stripes intrasquad series and the return of international series with Chinese Taipei and Japan. Currently, 12 of the 14 games will take place in North Carolina, with games at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, Atrium Health Ballpark in Kannapolis, and Segra Stadium in Fayetteville.
The Stars vs. Stripes series is a product of the Collegiate National Team Training Camp that features 56 of the premier non-draft-eligible collegiate players in the country. USA Baseball will announce a final 26-man roster on June 30 to compete in the 20th USA vs. Chinese Taipei International Friendship Series and the 44th USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Championship Series.
