When John Townsley walked onto the Vanderbilt practice field in February of 2011, he was just looking for an opportunity to continue his football career.
That day, Townsley was one of over 20 undergraduate students attempting to make the Commodores’ roster at James Franklin’s first walk-on tryout.
A year and a half later, the scout team quarterback from Upper Arlington, Ohio, is on full scholarship at Vanderbilt.
