NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt lacrosse hits the road for the final time this regular season, traveling to Gainesville, Florida to face ninth-ranked Florida on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Vandy fell at Coastal Carolina in a 17-13 decision on April 12. The Commodores played a back-and-forth first quarter, ending the period with three straight goals to go up 7-5.
Although the Commodores took a three-goal lead into halftime, the offense stalled in the second half and the Chanticleers outscored Vanderbilt 9-2 in the final 30 minutes. Eight Dores scored on the day with a pair of goals each from Molly Finlay, Paige Finneran, Bri Gross, Kayla Rieu and Josie Ward.
The Gator Report
Saturday’s matchup will be Vanderbilt’s second consecutive conference game against a top-10 opponent. Florida is currently 11-3 overall and 3-1 in American Athletic Conference play, placing the Gators in second place behind James Madison with two conference games to play (JMU won the head-to-head, 14-9, in March).
Florida has one of the strongest offenses in the conference, leading single-game stats in goals, points, and draw controls. The solid defense is also second in the AAC in saves and shots per game as well as save percentage.
Vanderbilt will close out the 2023 regular season hosting Temple and have a special pregame ceremony to recognize the eight seniors on Saturday, April 29 at noon.
