NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s golf returns to Florida this weekend to compete in the seventh annual Moon Golf Invitational at Suntree Country Club in Melbourne. The Commodores tied for seventh place in the tournament last year.

Due to inclement weather in the forecast, the tournament will begin on Saturday afternoon, a day earlier than originally scheduled. Following a practice round Saturday morning, all teams will take the course in the afternoon for the front nine of their opening rounds. Play will continue Sunday as weather permits with the invitational concluding on Monday and Tuesday.

“We’re excited to be going back to the Moon Golf Invitational and have a chance to play against some really great teams,” said head coach Greg Allen. “The field is absolutely loaded and we will need to bring our best.”

The 2024 Moon Golf Invitational features 12 top-25 teams, six of which are fellow SEC foes. No. 1 Wake Forest, No. 3 Arkansas, No. 9 Florida, No. 10 LSU, No. 11 Ole Miss, No. 12 Texas A&M, No. 13 UCF, No. 14 Northwestern, No. 15 Auburn, No. 16 Duke, No. 17 Clemson, No. 21 Florida State, No. 27 Vanderbilt, No. 32 Alabama, No. 39 Virginia Tech, No. 49 Louisville, No. 73 Augusta make up the 17-team field.

Four former champions—LSU, Florida State, Ole Miss, and UCF—are in the field again, but there has yet to be a repeat champion in the tournament’s history.

Vanderbilt will send five players to Melbourne including sophomores Lynn Lim and Tillie Claggett, senior Virginie Ding and graduate Celina Sattelkau. Ava Merrill, fresh off winning SEC Co-Freshman of the Week for her sixth-place performance at the FAU Paradise Invitational earlier this month, rounds out the lineup.

“I’m fired up about our lineup this week. It will be the first time since the Mason Rudolph we’ve seen this group play together,” said Allen. “They are extremely competitive and it will be fun watching them fight for every shot.”

The Commodores won the Mason Rudolph Championship back in the fall with this week’s lineup.
