Dores to Host Series of Duals

Women’s tennis to play East Tennessee State, North Alabama and Louisville this weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt women’s tennis returns to the Currey Tennis Center for three dual matches against East Tennessee State, North Alabama and Louisville this weekend.

After a trip to California, the Commodores are set to host East Tennessee State at 10:30 a.m. on Friday before returning to the courts that afternoon for a 4 p.m. match against North Alabama. They round out the weekend with a 1 p.m. match against Louisville on Sunday.

Debriefing

The Commodores most recently competed at the ITA Kickoff weekend in Berkeley, California, where they went 1-1. After a dominant win over San Diego to advance to the finals, Vandy went head-to-head with fourth-ranked Cal, dropping a 4-0 decision.

Anna Ross picked up a ranked win over No. 44 Solymar Colling of San Diego (7-6(3); 6-4) on Friday while No. 112 Anessa Lee claimed victory on Court 2 against No. 62 Abigail Desiatnikov (6-3; 6-2) en route to the team’s 4-1 win over the Toreros.

  • Marcella Cruz continues to hold her spot in singles at No. 96 nationally.
  • Often competing at No. 2 singles, Anessa Lee ranks 112th nationally.
  • Holly Staff is ranked No. 119 at singles competition.
  • Cruz and Staff combine as the 36th-ranked doubles pair while Lee and Staff rank No. 57 at doubles.

On the Radar

Following the weekend, the Dores will have a short break before returning to the court Feb. 27 for a set of dual matches.
