No. 13 Vanderbilt looks for another ranked win, faces No. 17 Florida on Friday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — No. 13 Vanderbilt women’s tennis begins its final road trip of the regular season with a matchup against No. 17 Florida on Friday in Gainesville.

The Commodores are coming off a 7-0 sweep of Arkansas on Senior Day, their first SEC shutout of the season. And for the 11th time this year, No. 13 Vanderbilt (19-6, 9-4 SEC) will take the court in a ranked matchup. No. 17 Florida (13-6, 8-5 SEC) enters Friday looking to end a two-match skid after falling 4-0 to both No. 6 Texas and No. 2 Texas A&M. The Gators are 53-11 in the all-time series against the black and gold, but the Dores have taken the last two meetings, including a 4-0 win last season in their SEC Tournament opener. Florida is 3-6 against top-25 foes this year.

A multitude of Commodores remain in the ITA individual rankings. Senior Bridget Stammel continued her rise in the singles list, coming in at a career-high No. 6 this week. Stammel picked up the highest ranked singles victory of her career on April 4 against No. 8 Oklahoma, taking down No. 10 Evialina Laskevich 2-6, 7-6 (9), 6-4. Stammel is 8-2 in her last 10 singles matchups, with six of those eight wins coming over ranked opponents.

Graduate Célia-Belle Mohr sits just behind Stammel at No. 14, followed by No. 25 junior Valeria Ray. Freshman Mia Yamakita rounds out the group of Commodores ranked in singles at No. 121. In doubles, Mohr and sophomore Sophia Webster remain as the highest-ranked duo on the team at No. 7. Stammel again generated her highest-career ranking, this time in doubles after coming in at No. 10 alongside Ray.

Four Gators are ranked in singles play, led by No. 57 Gabia Paskauskas. Valery Gynina trails at No. 67, followed by No. 77 India Houghton and No. 104 Nikola Daubnerova.
