NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team picked up its second win of the weekend, a 7-0 victory over Princeton on Sunday afternoon. The Commodores won all three doubles matches before sweeping on all singles courts.
Rachael Dillon and Alex Leatu quickly defeated Princeton’s Hilary Bartlett and Taylor Marable on court one, while Lauren Mira and Keilly Ulery picked up an 8-4 victory in the No. 3 match to clinch the doubles point. Jackie Wu and Chelsea Preeg tallied an 8-2 victory in the No. 2 match.
The first three singles matches finished within minutes of each other for Vanderbilt to clinch the victory. Mira claimed a 6-1, 6-3 win over Princeton’s Katherine Flanigan on court five, while Wu picked up a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Bartlett in the No. 1 match. Preeg sealed the victory with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Marable.
Dillon and Leatu both had to play a tiebreaker game in the second set, but came through with a victory. Dillon won her match on court four, 6-3, 7-6(7-4), while Leatu won 6-4, 7-6(7-0) in the No. 3 match. Ulery finished off the sweep of the Tigers with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Blakely Ashley in the No. 6 match.
The Commodores hit the road next weekend to take on Notre Dame and Michigan.
