Dores Snap Losing Streak

Vandy will return home to face two SEC opponents next weekend

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The No. 28 Vanderbilt women’s team snapped its five-match losing streak with a 6-1 victory over Missouri.

No. 58 Celia-Belle Mohr and Marcella Cruz came ready to play, winning their doubles match 6-3 and putting Vanderbilt in a position to clinch the doubles point. Since Missouri won the doubles match on Court 1, it came down to Anessa Lee and Bridget Stammel on Court 3. Lee and Stammel pulled out a 6-2 victory, giving the Dores the advantage heading into singles. 

Vandy brought the doubles momentum into singles play. No. 46 Mohr won her match with back-to-back 6-1 set victories to put the Dores ahead by two. Shortly after, No. 82 Stammel earned the third point for Vandy with her back-to-back 6-2 sets on Court 2. Lee won the match for the Dores with a two-set match victory on Court 4.

Both teams played out the rest of the singles matches, where Vanderbilt picked up additional points from Holly Staff and Amy Stevens.
