NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s tennis head coach Aleke Tsoubanos announced the signing of Trinetra Vijayakumar on Tuesday for the 2024-25 season.
Trinetra joins the Commodores from Ellicott City, Maryland, as a five-star blue chip recruit, ranking No. 20 in the nation by the Tennis Recruiting Network. The No. 1 recruit in Maryland, Trinetra won the J100 tournament in Zapopan, Mexico, in November after defeating Sabrina Lin to secure the title. On top of her Zapopan success, she was a finalist for the J100 Veracruz tournament in July, a semifinalist at events in Santo Domingo and Quebec City, and quarterfinalist at tournaments held in La Paz and Santo Domingo during the 2023 season.
“We are thrilled to welcome Trinetra to our tennis family,” said Tsoubanos. “She brings incredible work ethic and a passion for the game that was so impressive to see in the recruiting process. ‘T’ will bring such energy and enthusiasm to the team, I can’t wait to bring her on campus next season.”
Trinetra is ranked 160th as a junior by the International Tennis Federation and has a 14-9 record when competing against fellow five-star prospects.
