NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt women’s tennis secured its berth into the NCAA Tournament, earning a No. 15 overall seed and hosting privileges for the opening round. The Commodores will host Harvard, UCLA and Xavier at the NCAA Regional, with play beginning on Friday and the final match occurring Saturday.
It is the first time since 2019 Vandy has hosted the opening round of an NCAA Tournament, where the team went on and advanced to the NCAA Championships. The Dores face Xavier on Friday at not before 2 p.m., while Harvard and UCLA open the action at 11 a.m. Outdoor matches will be held at Middle Tennessee’s Outdoor Tennis Complex, but in the event matches need to be played indoors, they will take place from Vanderbilt’s Lummis Tennis Center indoor courts.
At a 19-6 finish, the Dores generated 11 SEC wins, the most since 2017-18. Vanderbilt reached as high as No. 13 in the ITA team rankings and notched six top-25 victories this season, highlighted by a 5-2 takedown of defending champion No. 2 Texas A&M. Senior Célia-Belle Mohr leads the charge in the singles rankings at No. 7, followed by junior Bridget Stammel at No. 58 and sophomore Valeria Ray at No. 76. In doubles, Mohr and freshman Sophia Webster enter the postseason ranked as the No. 10 duo.
The NCAA requires ticket sales at every championship event. Tickets will be sold on a walk-up basis Friday and Saturday: $10 for general admission and $5 for students and children.
This season marks the 28th total NCAA Tournament appearance for the program. Vandy has advanced to the Sweet 16 in two of the last three years, including last season after defeating No. 12-seed Ohio State 4-3. The Dores took home the national championship title in 2015, marking the first in program history.
