Dores Post Third-Place Finish at Mossy Oak

No. 10/11 Vanderbilt cards 10-under 854 to collect its seventh top-three finish of the 2025-26 season

WEST POINT, Miss. – The No. 10/11-ranked Vanderbilt men’s golf team had four golfers post a top-20 finish at the 2026 Mossy Oak Collegiate, as the Commodores wrapped up their final regular-season tournament in third place with a 54-hole total of 10-under 854.

Vandy carded under par in all three rounds at the Mossy Oak Collegiate. The Dores had their best round of the tournament on Tuesday, as Vanderbilt went 5-under 283 to end the event in third on the team leaderboard. It is the Commodores’ eighth top-four finish of the 2025-26 campaign, while it marks the seventh time Vanderbilt placed in the top three.

“I thought this was a really solid week for our team and a step in the right direction before championship season begins,” said Scott Limbaugh, Thomas F. Roush, M.D., and Family Vanderbilt Men’s Golf Head Coach. “I thought our guys played with some grit and some toughness this week, which is very encouraging. We didn’t get off to a great start today, but we hung in there well, stayed patient, and started making some birdies. We certainly have some things to clean up before next week, and I know our guys will embrace that. We have to keep having high demands for ourselves because when you demand more, you get more.”

Senior Wells Williams, who was playing in his hometown for the first time at the collegiate level, led the Dores in his homecoming, as he tied for seventh with a 54-hole score of 4-under 212. It is the senior’s seventh top-10 finish of the season. The West Point, Mississippi, native carded under par in all three rounds, as he held scores of 71-71-70. Williams led the field in par-3 scoring (2-under) and carded even par on a tournament-best 40 holes.

Junior Chase Nevins posted his second top-15 finish of the 2025-26 campaign, as he tied for 11th. The Great Falls, Virginia, native went 3-under 213, as he scored 1-under 71 in all three rounds of play at the Mossy Oak Golf Club.

Freshmen Will Hartman and Jon Ed Steed tied for 18th on the player leaderboard, with each golfer carding even par 216. Hartman’s par-5 score of 8-under led the tournament, and he was one of 10 golfers to collect an eagle at the Mossy Oak Collegiate, finishing Hole 7 at 2-under during Tuesday’s finale.

No. 15 Ole Miss and host Mississippi State shared the team title at the 2026 Mossy Oak Collegiate, as the Rebels and Bulldogs each carded 17-under 847. MSU caught Ole Miss on the final day of the tournament, thanks to a 9-under performance in Round 3. Tom Fischer of the Rebels and Dain Richie were co-medalists with a three-round score of 8-under 208.

The No. 10/11 Commodores now shift their focus to the postseason, starting with the 2026 SEC Golf Championships. The SEC Championships take place April 22-26 and will once again be held at Sea Island Golf Club on St. Simons Island, Georgia.
