LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Vanderbilt soccer team scored on its first four shots on the night en route to a 4-1 road victory at Kentucky on Thursday night in SEC action.
The Commodores (6-5-2, 3-1-1 SEC) have now won three games in a row and are outscoring opponents by a 12-1 margin during that stretch.
“I thought we were extremely effective tonight in difficult conditions,” Vanderbilt head coach Darren Ambrose said. “I am proud of how the girls kept their composure and finished their chances.”
In a game that was shortened to 77:15 due to lightning, Alex Kerr scored a goal in both halves while Maddie Elwell and Raegan Kelley tallied a goal and an assist for the Commodores.
Kate Devine finished with two saves on the night and held the Wildcats (6-6-2, 0-5 SEC) off the scoreboard until the 72nd minute.
After the game was delayed by 75 minutes due to inclement weather, Kelley got the scoring going in the eighth minute on a one timer from 19 yards out that rang off the crossbar and into the net.

The lead ballooned to 3-0 when Kelley slotted a ball to Elwell who finished from six yards out with a left-footed blast in the 38th minute.
Kerr capped the scoring for the Dores in the 53rd minute when she beat her defender and blasted a shot into the upper 90 from 16 yards out to make it 4-0.
