NASHVILLE – No. 13 Vanderbilt hosts Mississippi State on Friday at 4 p.m. and No. 54 Ole Miss on Sunday at 1 p.m. to finish up the Commodores’ four-match homestand at the Currey Tennis Center.

No. 13 Vanderbilt (10-5, 3-1) went 1-1 over the weekend with matchups against the newest members of the SEC
in Texas A&M and Missouri. The Commodores fell to the fourth-ranked Aggies, 4-3, Friday on a chilly night in Nashville. After dropping the doubles point, Vanderbilt fought back to tie the match, 3-3, before Courtney Colton fell in the No. 3 position, sealing the victory for Texas A&M. On Sunday versus No. 57 Missouri, Vanderbilt again dropped the doubles point, but this time the Commodores regrouped to sweep all six singles matches and take the match, 6-1. Frances Altick, Ashleigh Antal and Georgina Sellyn all won both of their singles matches over the weekend and are 4-0 in SEC play.

Mississippi State went 0-2 in its first weekend of SEC road competition, falling to No. 62 Tennessee and No. 9 Georgia, respectively. Georgiana Patrasc nearly took down No. 21 ranked Brynn Boren of the Lady Vols, dropping the match in a close 6-2, 6-7(6), 1-0(9) decision at the No. 1 position. Alexandra Perper for the Lady Bulldogs also battled through a tough match, falling 6-4, 2-6, 1-0(4) to UT’s No. 43 ranked Kata Szekely on court 2. In the team’s Sunday match against No. 7 Georgia, Perper and Naomi Tran paired up at the top spot to take on UGA’s No. 9 ranked duo of Kate Fuller and Silvia Garcia, but were unable to topple the pair falling 8-7(6). Perper and Tran are the 46th-ranked doubles team in the ITA Doubles Rankings.
About No. 54 Ole Miss (2-8, 0-4)
Ole Miss dropped both its matches this past weekend on the road, falling to No. 9 Georgia, 6-1, and No. 62 Tennessee, 4-3. The Tennessee loss marked the Rebels’ third 4-3 SEC defeat in their first four and the team’s fourth 4-3 loss overall. The Rebels have lost the doubles point in six of their first 10 matches this year. Sophomore Julia Jones is 6-2 at No. 3 singles and 2-2 in the SEC. Sophomore Erin Stephens is 2-1 in the SEC and freshman Marija Milutinovic is 2-2. Caroline Rohde-Moe and Mai El Kamash are ranked Nos. 37 and 66 in the latest ITA singles rankings. Rohde-Moe and Milutinovic come in at No. 53 in the doubles rankings.
