Dores Head to Virginia

Men's golf earned the No. 3 seed at the 2025 NCAA Amherst Regional at Poplar Grove Golf Club

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 18/17-ranked Vanderbilt men’s golf team will be the No. 3 seed in the 2025 NCAA Amherst Regional, as the Commodores begin their postseason run May 12-14 at Poplar Grove Golf Club in Amherst, Virginia.

The Commodores learned of their NCAA Regional destination Wednesday during the NCAA postseason selection show on GOLF Channel. Vanderbilt is one of 13 squads selected to play in the Amherst Regional, hosted by Liberty University, with No. 6/7-ranked LSU being the top-seeded team.

“This is the best time of the year, in my opinion,” said Thomas F. Roush, M.D., and Family Vanderbilt Men’s Golf Head Coach Scott Limbaugh. “The guys wrapped up finals this week, so we get to do everything together as a team. We are excited to be heading to Virginia for regionals and the opportunity it will present. We know the areas we have to improve on physically, and that will be our focus over the next couple of weeks.”

The 54-hole tournament tees off May 12 at Poplar Grove Golf Club. Teams will play one 18-hole round per day. The top five teams (30 teams total) and the low individual not on an advancing team (six individuals total) from each regional site (six total) will advance to the 2025 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship, May 23-28 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa North Course in Carlsbad, California.

Vandy heads to Amherst, Virginia, ranked No. 18 in the nation according to the CLIPPD rankings, while the Commodores came in at No. 17 in the latest Bushnell/GOLFWEEK Coaches Poll.

Other teams competing at the Amherst Regional are, in order of seeding, No. 6/7 LSU, No. 7/6 Oklahoma, No. 19/23 Pepperdine, No. 25 Tennessee, No. 20 Arizona, Stanford, Wake Forest, Arkansas, Florida Gulf Coast, Kent State, Princeton and Howard.

Individuals playing at the Amherst Regional are Andrew Swanson (Clemson), Kaleb Wilson (West Virginia), Ike Joy (Liberty), Emil Riegger (Maryland), Peicheng Chen (St. John’s), Sakke Siltala (Texas State), Henric Bjelke (Campbell), Colin Dutton (UNC Greensboro), Alex Heard (UConn) and Nolah Schuermann (Holy Cross).

It is the 18th overall NCAA Regional appearance for Vanderbilt, while it is the 12th-straight season the Dores have earned an NCAA Regional bid. Vandy has advanced out of the NCAA Regional round in each of the last 10 seasons. Overall, the Commodores have moved on to play in the NCAA Championship a total of 13 times.

The Commodores have captured a total of three NCAA Regional titles in program history. The Dores won back-to-back regional titles during the 2020-21 (Kingston Springs) and 2021-22 (Palm Beach Gardens) campaigns. Vanderbilt won its NCAA Regional last season, capturing the title at the West Lafayette Regional. William Moll, who is now a member PGA TOUR Americas and has appeared on the Korn Ferry Tour this season, won the West Lafayette Regional to become the first Commodore in program history to earn medalist honors at an NCAA Regional.
