Dores handed first loss

EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 12 Northwestern remembered last year’s 4-3 loss to No. 15 Vanderbilt, and came out swinging for a 5-2 win as the Commodores dropped their first match of their spring dual slate.

Freshman Ashleigh Antal came back after dropping her first set to Northwestern’s Stacey Lee, winning her singles match 1-6, 7-5, 1-0(10-7), while sophomore Lauren Mira beat Veronica Corning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.

Antal and classmate Marie Casares teamed up for Vanderbilt’s lone doubles win as Northwestern beat Jackie Wu/Alex Leatu and Nelly Radeva/Mira to claim the point.

Vanderbilt, now 5-1, hosts the ITA Kick-off next weekend, as Texas, Alabama, and Arizona travel to Currey Tennis Center in Nashville for the two-day event.
