Vandy has three more nonconference matches

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt soccer continues its nonconference schedule on Friday night, hosting Columbia at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex. The match begins at 7 p.m. and will be shown on SEC Network+.

Vanderbilt head coach Darren Ambrose is coming off his 100th win as a Commodore last Sunday against Saint Mary’s (Calif.) and is just the second head coach in program history to reach the mark. Vandy topped the Gaels 4-1 in the match, with two first-half goals coming from Sydney Watts and second-half goals from Julianne Leskauskas and Addie Porter.

Vandy outshot Saint Mary’s 23-8 and finished with 53 percent of the possession. In two wins last week, the Commodores outscored their opponent 9-1 and outshot them 51-9.

Friday’s matchup is the first between the two schools.

Columbia enters the match just one game into the season after a scoreless draw against Hofstra last Friday. The Lions outshot the Pride 10-3. Freshman Gabby Chan tallied three shots and 61 minutes in her Columbia debut. Maia Tabion, Angel Akanyirige and Annie Faraone were each credited with a shot on goal. Senior goalkeeper Lauren Rodriguez earned her first career start and played all 90 minutes.
