Dores Conclude Day 1 at the Black and Gold Invite

Vanderbilt collected two doubles wins and a singles victory on the day

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team picked up a pair of wins in doubles play to highlight the first day of the Black and Gold Invitational for the Commodores.

Joubert Klopper and Michael Ross defeated Gabriele Brancatelli and Richard Biagiotti of Georgia Tech, as the Commodore duo picked up the 8-6 win on Court 1. Over on Court 3, Vanderbilt’s Mitchell Deames and Paul Wang teamed up to collect an 8-3 decision over Belmont’s Alfred Wallin and Diego Castro.

Juan Lopez posted a come-from-behind victory in his singles match against Georgia Tech’s Krish Arora. The fifth-year senior dropped the first set, 3-6, but was able to storm back and collect a 6-1 victory in Set 2 before closing the match with a 7-5 win in Set 3.
