Dores Collect Eighth Run-Rule Win

Vanderbilt blanks North Dakota State in eight innings

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt shut out North Dakota State 10-0 in eight innings Saturday to clinch the series over the Bison.

The Commodores hit three home runs in the win and used a four-run eighth inning to claim their eighth run-rule victory of the season.

Braden Holcomb ended the game with a sac fly, recording his third RBI of the evening. Holcomb, Logan Johnstone and Chris Maldonado each homered for the second consecutive game. Maldonado has left the yard in three straight contests.

Wyatt Nadeau made his first collegiate start and went four innings in the combined shutout. Adria Casoliba, Luke Guth and Brennan Seiber finished off the win on the mound. The four arms totaled 11 strikeouts with Nadeau accounting for seven. Vandy held NDSU to just four hits.

The Commodores will go for the series sweep at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Field.
