OXFORD, Miss. – After a successful three days in Oxford, Miss. at the Ole Miss Invitational the Commodores added doubles champions to their list of fall accolades.
While doubles was not played Sunday, the ‘Dores compiled a 4-2 doubles record over Friday and Saturday invitational action. Although there were two losses, the ‘Dores take the title after going undefeated in both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.
Ashleigh Antal and Astra Sharma competed in the No. 1 spot for Vandy, defeating the Rebel’s No. 51 doubles team of Stephens/Verboven. Ellie Yates and Marie Casares also remained undefeated, competing in the No. 2 position for the Commodores.
UGA claimed the singles title after winning 12 matches throughout the weekend’s competition. Texas Tech’ Sarah Dvorak is the invitational’s individual champion, going undefeated in Oxford.
The Commodores’ Sydney Campbell is back in action on Nov. 6 in Flushing, N.Y. The sophomore will be representing Vanderbilt in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships after winning the Ohio Valley Regional singles title.
