Dores Advance to Regional Final

Vanderbilt won all six first sets in singles

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 29 Vanderbilt women’s tennis team defeated East Tennessee State University 4-0 to advance to the second day of the Ohio State NCAA Regional.

Anessa Lee and Bridget Stammel found their rhythm early in doubles, winning 6-3 on Court 3 and putting the team in a position to clinch the doubles point. The No. 44 pairing of Celia-Belle Mohr and Marcella Cruz extended their doubles win streak to three and claimed the advantage for Vanderbilt.

In singles, the Dores rode the momentum from doubles. Stammel battled in her first set to win 6-4 and then won 6-0 in the second set to put the Dores ahead by two. No. 24 Mohr finished second and won in back-to-back sets. Amy Stevens rallied in her second set to clinch the match for the Dores and to advance the team into tomorrow’s regional final.
