NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team added two members from the 2025 class, signing Mia Yamakita and Erin Pearce.
“We are so excited to welcome Mia and Erin to our program in 2025 and can’t wait to have them on campus,” head coach Aleke Tsoubanos said. “They are both impressive talents who want to strive for championships while also valuing the academic and tennis development opportunities they will get as Commodores.”
Yamakita, hailing out of Johns Creek, Georgia, is a Blue Chip recruit ranked No. 13 in the nation and No. 1 in the state. She has placed in the WTA world rankings, posting a career high No. 908 in singles and No. 670 in doubles. Yamakita captured two USTA Pro Circuit doubles titles and was a finalist at the USTA 18s National Clay Court Championships.

“Mia is one of the best juniors in the country and was the top ranked player from Georgia. She is an absolute joy to be around, and I love her all-in-for-the-team approach to college tennis – she even came to support Célia [-Belle Mohr] and Sophia [Webster] at the Masters last week,” Tsoubanos said. “Her work ethic is outstanding, and her tennis goals align perfectly with our philosophy of investment, improvement, and desire to compete at the highest level.”

“Erin instantly connected with the team on her official visit this fall,” assistant coach Jack Findel-Hawkins said. “She has multiple weapons on the tennis court and competes with great intensity. She also has a great sense of the doubles court, and we know that she is going to have a fantastic career here as a Commodore.”
