“We couldn’t be more excited to add Nicole to our team next fall,” head coach Aleke Tsoubanos said. “She’s a fierce competitor with incredible work ethic and a ‘growth’ mindset in terms of her game and improvement.”
Weng joins the Dores out of South Pasadena, California as a Blue Chip recruit ranked No. 5 in the state and No. 13 nationally. She reached as high as No. 10 in the national rankings and No. 2 in California according to the Tennis Recruiting Network. Last week she was a recipient of the 2025 USTA Southern California Girls’ 18s Junior Sportsmanship Award.
“Nicole will make an immediate impact in our program and on the court, but more importantly she’s a high-character human being who will represent women’s tennis and Vanderbilt University with class and integrity,” Tsoubanos said. “I can’t wait for her to start her next chapter with the Dores in black and gold next season.”
The incoming Dore most recently secured the USTA Gold Ball as the singles champion in the USTA Level 1 Girls’ 18s National Clay Court Championships from South Carolina while also adding a USTA Bronze Ball at Indian Wells in the Easter Bowl. Weng earned a doubles title at the J60 San Diego while finishing as a singles finalist in the same event. Additionally, she claimed a USTA Silver Ball at the Billie Jean King Girls’ 16s National Championships. Weng competed in other high-level tournaments, such as the J500 Plantation in the Orange Bowl International Tennis Championships.
Including Weng, the program has inked a Blue Chip player in each of the last five recruiting classes. The Dores have produced 13 top-20 signing classes since 2006, five of which have been ranked top-five in the country.
