NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt’s Davis Diaz was drafted in the eighth round by the Oakland Athletics in the 2024 MLB Draft with the 226th overall pick Monday.
Diaz has played nearly 200 games played for the Commodores over the past three seasons with 18 homers, 116 RBI and 26 doubles. Known for his defense on the left side of the infield, Diaz also provided some key hits in pivotal moments during the 2024 season, including a walk-off home run in the ninth inning vs. UT Martin on April 23.
All-time, Vanderbilt has more than 200 players selected in the MLB Draft including an NCAA-leading 150 since 2003.
Diaz is the fifth Commodore taken in the 2024 MLB Draft.
