Del Rosario Signs with Dores

Former five-star recruit joins Shea Ralph's squad after two seasons at LSU

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt women’s basketball head coach Shea Ralph announced the addition of Aalyah Del Rosario, who transfers to the Commodores after a two-year stint at LSU. The 6-6 center has two years of eligibility remaining in her collegiate career.

Del Rosario, who was selected to the All-SEC freshman team in 2023-24, appeared in 65 games and made one career start at LSU, playing behind a pair of All-Americans in Angel Reese and Aneesah Morrow. She averaged 3.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game while shooting 50.3 percent from the floor in two seasons with the Tigers.

“Commodore Nation is going to love Aalyah Del Rosario,” said Ralph. “From her days playing high school basketball in Tennessee, we knew Aalyah’s vision was to compete for championships and maximize her true full potential as a college student-athlete. She brings energy, fun and a growth mindset to everything she does and will be a wonderful addition to our program and community. On the court, she adds the size and interior physicality we need to be a national contender. We are eager to help Aalyah shine here at Vanderbilt as we chase our championship goals together.”

The post player from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, scored a career-high 27 points and pulled down a personal-best 10 rebounds against McNeese State on Dec. 12, 2023. Del Rosario averaged 4.7 points and 3.5 rebounds during her rookie campaign in 2023-24 en route to being named to the All-SEC freshman team. She developed into the first player off the bench for LSU midway through her freshman season, helping the Tigers advance to the Elite Eight.

The 6-6 center was born in Texas, but shortly after, moved with her family to the Dominican Republic. At the age of 12, Del Rosario moved to the Bronx, New York, where she played for the New Heights NYC AAU program. The former five-star recruit has ties to the Volunteer State, as she played her final two years of high school at The Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. Del Rosario helped the Webb Feet to back-to-back TSSAA Division II-A state championships and was a finalist for the 2022 Miss Basketball award.

Del Rosario ranked as the No. 7 best player in the Class of 2023 by espnW HoopGurlz, while she was the second-best post player. She was selected as a McDonald’s All-American, making her the fourth McDonald’s All-American that Ralph has brought into the program during her tenure.  Additionally, she earned a spot on the Naismith High School All-America team, was invited to play in the Inaugural Women’s Nike Hoops Summit and played in the BallIsLife All-America Game.

She has represented the United States at the 2022 FIBA Americas U18 Championship in Argentina. Del Rosario averaged 7.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game to help the Stars and Stripes bring home a Gold Medal.
