Day 4 Challenges Dores

Alyssa Ballard leads Vanderbilt student-athletes

by Rod Williamson

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — With the exception of Alyssa Ballard, Saturday was a rough day on the Gold Coast lanes for the Vanderbilt quintet competing at the USBC Team USA Trials.

Ballard rose 19 spots into 34th based upon her 13th-place finish over the day’s six games but that was the lone bright spot for the Commodore hopefuls.

Victoria Varano had her poorest day and dropped from 15th into 36th place. Haley Lindley, who scorched the lanes Friday couldn’t regain the magic but finished the day in 40th; Caroline Thesier ended the fourth day in 65th and Kaylee Hitt is 111th out of 153.

The team trials conclude Sunday and for a number of individuals on top collegiate teams, they will transition Monday to the South Point Bowling Center for the Stormin’ Blue & White Vegas Classic. Vanderbilt is one of 20 teams in that field.
