Vandy will travel to play Florida on Friday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The No. 17 Vanderbilt women’s tennis team fell to No. 3 Georgia 5-2 in its final of two SEC home opener matches. 


Bridget Stammel and Anessa Lee extended their doubles win streak to four with their 6-1 victory on Court 3. Celia-Belle Mohr and Marcella Cruz took down the No. 39 pairing of Mell Reasco and Meg Kowalski to clinch the doubles point, giving the advantage to the Dores heading into singles. 


The Bulldogs found momentum on the singles courts, earning victories on Court 1, Court 2 and Court 4. While No. 111 Holly Staff fought to win the first set in a tiebreak, No. 52 Reasco forced a third set and claimed the winning point for the Bulldogs.

The Dores will travel to Gainesville, Florida, on Friday to take on the Gators at 5 p.m. CT. On Sunday, Vandy will play at South Carolina at 1 p.m CT.
